Southend & Benfleet 1st XI 3 - 2 Southend 2nd XI
A bit of an unusual game really. We were missing 4 of the ladies 1s players because of the time and pitch change and so were now on the awful pitch at Tommey Moore.
It was a very slow start for us but not for Southend, who quickly scored with a lovely bit of passing in the first 10 minutes. We returned with a superb goal from Naomi just to get us back on track before half time.
The second half showed we were back to our usual selves and quickly started to increase the pressure on Southend. Kendal stepped up for the second goal and 5 minutes later Chantal popped the third in. All very well deserved goals against Southend’s East League Goal Keeper!!!!
Southend tried to come back but needed a helping hand from one of our defenders to score them their second goal, giving them a little bit hope just too late. The game ended 2 minutes later with another win against Southend for us. Well done to all the ladies. A well deserved win after such a shabby start.

We played well through out the whole game and our finishing to score the goals was very well done. The team worked well together especially as there are still new people finding their feet within the team. We scored quite quickly although it was over so quickly we was not sure who got it, but Stacee Fern is the 1st goal holder. We then scored a 2nd and third goal both by Emma Phillips so well done to all.
We did have some moments where we had a couple of players left unmarked, but that is something that we did correct and we will keep working on.
Overall good game and look forward to the next one!
