Bognor Hockey Festival

After what sounds like a successful Folkestone I'd like to see if there's any interest in doing Bognor this year. It's over the August Bank Holiday weekend Friday 28th August - Monday 31st. I've been sent an e-mail with the application form so if we have enough interest I'll send it back. So...who fancies it? It costs ■300 per team so if we get at least 15 works out to only ■20 per head.

Good stuff, looks the response is strong enough to make it worthwhile. My post was really meant to determine whether it would be worth going or not so I won't be posting further information about Bognor on the SHC website. Others who are interested please contact me directly and I'll get the info out to you.

I know, I know...I said not to post on here and contact me directly but it's just so much easier to use the forum.
I have entered a team at Bognor under the Barrel Gaps name. I'll get some details of costs etc. once I have the numbers in place.

Hi Rich - can you put me and Bart down as potentials for the weekend too......and yes, Tank - do you still have the tour tops, if so, could you drop me a text with your address so I can arrange to pick up.

Date: 14/06/2009 11:12:08
Jo- No plans to stay on Sunday night. I think Jamie McPhee has the unclaimed tour shirts.

I'll need to start collecting money from everyone soon. I reckon it will be 20 each.

Posted by: Jo (198.28.69.xxx)
Date: 14/06/2009 15:29:44
no worries, can you email me your bank details and I'll transfer it, or if you'd prefer a cheque let me know. Am guessing you dont want money transferred to the club account as this is a Barrel Gaps thing rather than SHC? toooooouuurrr!!!!!!!!!

What's the best way of getting money to you Rich?

Posted by: Rich Hill (217.158.75.xxx)
Date: 09/07/2009 16:27:04
You can get the money to me anyway you fancy. if you want to transfer the money, call me and I'll give you the details. If you want to pay by cash/cheque then just call me and we can arrange. I don't really want to my mobile number on a public forum but I'm sure most people have it.

Bad news about Bognor everyone...I really don't have the time or the desire to organise anything else.

Here's the e mail I got today, I'll refund those who have already paid me a deposit.

"I am sorry to have ot let you know that we have received notice from a number of teams that they no longer intend to attend the festival. With regret we have had to take the decision not to run the festival this year as we do not feel it would be able to live up to our (and your) expectations. Obviousy we do this with some regret, but hopefully next year, with the recession taking more of a back seat, we can come back bigger and better.

Thanks for your support and next year we would love you to come and would offer a discount on your entry fee."

ah no what a shame but always next year...

I'm really sorry everyone. I should have seen this coming and had a backup plan, but I didn't and I don't.

May I suggest that on the Friday we get our tour shirts on and head to the Billet or something, then have another session on the Saturday evening somewhere, house party maybe to keep the costs down? Part of the reason I love Bognor is that we bond as a club before the season starts, just because we're not going anywhere doesn't mean we can't still do that. Thoughts?

Sorry to hear about Bognor being cancelled. We're running a mixed/mens sixes event at Beeston on the Bank Holiday weekend (Stratford upion Avon HC just emailed me as they were also hoping to go to Bognor) we do have spaces for a couple of teams.

You could play mens and mixed if you wanted. Camping pitch side, 4 games sat 3/4 games sunday (per mens/mixed team entered so 2 teams = 14/16 games). Please email admin@ne14hockey.com for more details.

We were meant to be running a World Record Attempt but we've had to postpone it to give more time to find sponsors which on a positive spin means all the games are on the water based.

Kind Regards,
Simon Buckley
